It would probably be LaZy with over 1300 members and all LaZy only guilds.

The same could be said of any well-established guild. There are usually a number of core players who know the game inside-out. Anyway, fame or one's recognition factor shouldn't be based on players nominating themselves or their guilds. It should be based on what the community at large thinks, and there's no way to quantify that objectively.

If someone wants to say their guild is well known, let them. Plenty of people in this thread outside the guild has already said it.

Known guilds for me are: sms, snow, lazy, dvdf, lod and zos.

I won't say what I think about some of these tho, because known != good.

As pointed out, many guilds have have a number of core players who are usually of a very good standard. It's very difficult to judge who is or is not a good or nice player/guild based on forum posts and hersay. You really need to play with them to find out for sure.

To be fair if I wasn't in SMS i would have nominated them, I played with them way before I ever joined them, I joined them because they were the ultimate oximoron that is "Good PvE Guild", and because Rac totally owed me an invite because I let him play with guild I used to be in tbh, I'm aware that there may be a few guilds out there with the odd solid players in them, can't really say I know of any, and I can't really say I think most of the bronze trimmed scrubby euro guilds or tank and spank pve guilds that claim to be good actually are.

Personally I'd also like to say SoF, they are a great bunch of people that have done a lot for the community and there's a few people in there that have an exceptional understanding of the game that absolutely don't care to be known or anything. But they are awesome people who kept me playing the game for a long time. The Sealed Deck project was awesome too.

I agree with this 100% for PvE guilds.

I am currently in LOD, and we have some notoriety but definitely the most notorious are SMS, ZoS, DVDF, and LaZy. SMS is known mainly through these forums, as multiple mods and avid forumers frequent Guru, as well as their prowess in understanding PvE. ZoS is know as the Anet guild, so of course they are popular. DVDF has gone up recently in notoriety mainly due to their involvement in timed-PvE. LaZy is huge and has put on 3 major party events (Ascalonian Ball, Oktoberfest, and Cinco de Mayo). We in LOD have notoriety as good PvErs, and recently being a guild of the month. I think all the guilds I've mentioned have been GotM some time.

I'm pretty much happy with my guild. I was in LaZy for a short while, but the school that I went to blocked Vent, and I had to leave.

dR is the most famous PvE guild because they have Divine, God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals - and a sexy trim now.

The guild im currently in isnt famous, but the alliance has awesome core players, none who are really well known as far as i know. I agree with xerox lol. I think DVDF and SMS and all those others are famous through here really, i know of quite a few people who havent heard of them. The only reason i dont think ive tried to join in SMS or DVDF so far is because every single time i went to apply my net cut out, in the end i gave up tbh lol. Maybe in the future ill get lucky

lol, i'm not QQing over it, nor do i care, it's simply statement of why the guild is known, because they are everywhere, not that that means they are bad or good, just that they are pretty evenly spread out over...EVERYWHERE.

Dark Alley. Look them up on the ladder or maybe check the latest Monthly results if you don't know who they are.

edit: no one seems to understand subtle jokes these days

I think the most well known pve guilds have lots of homoerotic conversations between members, lots of good sarcasm, and the willingness to not take themselves seriously. As well as the ability to not be tremendously bad at this game.

"Oh yeah, we're famous because we have 3 GWAMM's." I lol'd

Only SMS actually qualifies for this. Maybe dR.

I'll agree with your opening statement; however, on well more than one occasion did an SMS member join in our ally group to complete quests/missions toward their titles. True, SMS is one of the oldest guilds around but it doesn't make you PvE famous for that reason alone.

How exactly in your opinion does SMS and maybe dR only actually qualify for this for having 3 GWAMMs?

Titles and HoM are not indicators of a good PvE guild.

I wasn't talking about 3 GWAMMs with regards to SMS and dR. When I read the statement regarding GWAMMs, I laughed, because that is so silly.

SMS has a wonderful level of taking neither itself nor this game seriously. That's what I meant for qualifying.

I know these guys quite well, Itsa russian guild, well known in our community, they are pretty epic at HA and at PvE too now they mostly do Gvs though. >.>

One of the first guilds to start serious HAin's as far as I know.

But basically the core is a bunch of friends or atleast peoples who know eachovers well and had exp running such guilds in other MMOs, again, as far as i know.
